Omaggio a Julio Larraz: Cortina d'Ampezzo

Contini Gallery is pleased to offer at its headquarters in Cortina d' Ampezzo an exhibition dedicated to the Cuban-born master Julio Larraz.
On display will be the latest works created by the artist along with some previously unpublished ones, a selection of oils, watercolors, and sculptures, all characterized by Julio Larraz's typical ironic edge.
He adopts, moreover, unusual framing, combines multiple points of view, privileges figurative sequences by focusing on the cropping of conspicuous and emblematic details, selects and fixes the perspectives and distorting atmospheres of an unprecedented metaphysics of the everyday.
In other words, a profoundly innovative diction of realism imposes itself whose modernity of language attracts and engages us, legitimizing the leading role that the artist now plays on the international art scene.
Larraz confirms even in his most recent production that he remains, in any case, an artist unmistakably linked to his origins, to the authentic sense of a passionate commitment to the situations of political and social life, to the conception of an avowedly representative art - first of all for moral and then expressive reasons - to the need, finally, to rework, again and again, motifs and forms of inspiration on the basis of inner poetic instances.
